Default Fender Eleminator

New CBR Owner and want to do some mods. First is the fender! I just received it this week from competition werkes, but was warned by someone not to remove the plastic around the muffler below the tail light bc it protects the light from heat off the muffler. Is there an issue with the tail light turning yellowish from the heat? Should I just cut the plastic so it's still around the top of the muffler but not around the bottom where I want it gone?
Thanks!

My advice might not be the best, but if it helps any, my exhaust has never had any affect on the light (even after 3 years.) it does get a little hot, but not enough to discolor. I would remove all of it, but I'm sure some other people will have some more reliable advice.

Well, the whole point of the fender eliminator is to 'ELIMINATE THE FENDER'[8D] So just take off that whole back section and put in the CW. I made mine custom and took off everything and it looks so much cleaner and shows off the pipe. Post some pics when you get put in.

Good to hear - thanks guys. I really didn't want to leave any part of that around the muffler.

Hey smarterben, there's a bunch of DIY FE on the forum, just run a search. I'm gonna post pics of mine and do a little write up a little later when I have some time.
