Decent price for a decent bike?
Hi all, I've finally decided to get serious and geta bike. I've wanted to for a while, but now I'm actually in a financial position to be able to purchase one. After doing some reasearch, I've decided on the CBR600, and after some looking around, I've found a wide range of prices for bikes. Checking on ebay for instance, I've found some going for as low as 2500 to as much as 8000. Yet, not all of the ones going for the lower prices seem to have something wrong with them. At least not that the seller has posted. Is it possible to actually get a decent 2003 CBR600RR for around $4500 and not have it turn out to have been dropped?
Pretty much since it's my first bike I'm wondering what the cheapest I can get it for is, without having to deal with it being in the shop every other week.

RE: Decent price for a decent bike?
I just bought a 2003 black 600rr for a little more than that. It had been dropped on its side, but no cracks or anything, just a couple light scratches. 6000 miles and the thing runs great. Rode it around all day yesterday and loved every minute of it. I just found out im moving pretty soon though so might be selling it. Where are you located? Maybe I can cut you a deal.

kudos to all the previous postees. they are right, dont rush. dont feel anxious even if the season starts. there are always deals out there.
as for ebay, dont even bother bidding unless you see the bike. on this forum go to "search" and look up some other post around here. they will tell you what to look for when buying a bike. like title and damage issues. good luck.

Whatever you do, make sure to leave room in your budget for gear - helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, pants - and the MSF course if you haven't already taken it.
And a 600RR isn't really a good choice for a first bike, but if you do get one, get an older, cheaper one so you won't feel as bad (at least emotionally, if not physically) when you drop it.

wow, craiglist ismuch better than ebay, thanks for the suggestion. and yes, i've already figured all the other expenses into my budget munson. why do you say the cbr600 isnt a good choice? what would you recommend? i was just looking at it because people were actually saying it is a good starter bike. after looking at craiglist especially im thinking i'll get a 95-00 bike. like you said, i wont feel as bad emotionally if i do drop it, and they still seem like nice bikes.
