Cooler Temp
I know that the Hondas (2006 CBRs) can run hot (i.e. ~210 F at idle). Is there anyway I can get'er to run 10-15 degrees cooler. I commute to work on a daily basis and we are starting to get warmer on the East Coast. We know the right cheek can get warm ;)
Is there an aftermarket thermostat or something? |
RE: Cooler Temp
running water and water wetter can help with cooling, but keep in mind you'll need to change it back to coolant before winter

RE: Cooler Temp
I live in florida and have the same problem. Can I run straight water or do I have to run antifreeze?
|
RE: Cooler Temp
like I said you can run water with Water wetter, running straight water is bad for the cooling system, the water wetter keeps corrosion from occuring

RE: Cooler Temp
yup +1 on that

RE: Cooler Temp
my RR has been runnin really hot lately....unless i'm movin pretty good, it rarely drops below 195-200. Lately when in town i've seen 228-229. I think that i may have too much coolant and not enough water in there....would you suggest draining a fair amount of the coolant and adding distilled water?

RE: Cooler Temp
that would probably be okay, just make sure when winter comes around again you have the proper ratio so you don't end up with a busted cooling system
If you haven't changed the coolant in a while you might go ahead and flush the system and add all new coolant and water. |
RE: Cooler Temp
oh and anybody that replaces their coolant with water wetter make sure to flush the whole system a few times before adding the water wetter/water so you don't still have regular coolant mixed in with the water/water wetter

Also run distilled water and not tap water. It will aid in cooling better than tap water and won't deposit sediments in the system. |
RE: Cooler Temp
I have an 05 and I run Engine Ice and I have found that it usually stays around 220 and I'm in Vegas, It heats up faster but also cools faster when riding. The highest my bike has been is 230. I havent seen anyone suggest this, is Engine Ice no good?
