ORIGINAL: be vertical

my nose cone melted from headlamp heat
I was actually going to ask about that. I know on my VW Forum, people complain about HID's melting the plastic housings because of extreme heat, wouldn't the HID run hotter than a stock bulb? and if a stock bulb melts the housing, what kind of damage would an HID bulb do?

Lag, its not so much wiring as it is hiding the ballast's and wires, they plug in just like your regular head lights. I dont know what kit an 05 takes, but it should be in your manual. Look at the headlight number, it should have an H5 or H7 or something like that in there.. Thats the kit number, the 07 takes H7's...

As far as the headlight melting thing goes, mine actually melted with the stock lights in them. Melted the whole right side of the nose cone, the housing, and the side plastic. I have to bring it to the dealer and have it replaced before I install the HIDs and risk voiding my warranty. I am the only case of this though, I have asked around on this forum and no one else has had this happen to them. I think I am going to drill some vent holes into my new housing once I have the warranty work done, as I never ride in the rain.
