Checking Oil
You owners manual will show you on page 12 and 13 a drawing that list several important components. Page 103 will list Checking & Adjusting Oil. You have to check the oil when the bike is warm, start it for 3 to 5 minutes and turn it off. Wait a couple of minutes and have someone help you if you can. Have your helper hold the bike as level as possible so you can kneel down and check the level. The oil level should be near the top of the window. I've added a picture showing you where to look in case you do not have you owners manual.

As long as the oil is visible in the window, you're safe. The low mark is at the bottom of the window and the high mark is near the top so there is some room for play. I keep mine as close as possible to the high mark which will leave a little space at the top.
