I changed my buddies tire today at school and im wondering what side does that "hat" spacer go on if im sitting on bike? By "hat" spacer im talking about the one that doesn't sit flush in the rim/bearing. I didn't mark it when I was balancing it, I know dumb on my part.

If you're talking about the dust seal, it fits into the bearing, and there should be one on both sides (same part).
