Default CBR vs CBR purchase help

Going to look at 2 bikes this weekend. Found 2 08 CBRs both interested

Bikes:
2008 Honda CBR 600rr grafitti edition

About 8k miles on it
Back sticker is slightly peeling
Small mark on underbelly
Never laid down
Paperwork of casual maitinance
Stock
Talked him down to $6200

2008 Honda CBR 600rr
Laid down but said its back to normal
Gray with red paint splat theme
9k miles
Talked him down to $5700

So they both agreed to do a 10 point inspection at a shop or dealership to make sure everything is running right. I want the graffiti due to the lower miles and not being laid down but not sure if it's worth the extra $500 if the other guys runs just fine. I'm just wondering if you guys have any input or if one is a no brainer over the other.

I like the graffiti because of the "limited" edition part and LOVE the look of them. And the 1k less miles helps but is it worth that extra $500? And the other guys looks pretty nice too.

Also this will be my first bike I know I should start smaller but I have made my decision and won't be touching this bike on the street until mid summer. I'm willing to take it slow and it's going to be a weekend cruiser and I plan on keeping this bike for a while. And yes I understand fully how dangerous they are reason I'm in no rush to jump on until I'm ready But let's not get into telling me to get a smaller bike please.

Again meeting them this weekend. Hopefully you guys can lmk by then.

If this is in the wrong slot please move thank you.

I'd go with the grafitti. Never down = never down (if he's honest). Down once = Down once or more, but still been down.

yeah agreed, go with the bike thats never been down, as long as it actually has never been down like hes saying. Well worth the $500 for the peace of mind, and the 1000 less miles isnt a huge difference but its always nice of course.

graffiti. it's a great looking bike. limited editions are more valuable and it's never been down. the splat thing is.....well lets just say "not as good looking."

i noticed that you only said you LOVED one of them. $500 more to get what you love is better than having $500 and knowing that you would have liked the bike you didn't get more.

Gotta agree with fellow comments. I'd spend the extra change for the pristine model.
However, I'd go over it with a sharp eye to verify his claim. Sounds like you have a cool head.
So, keep the cynicism dialed up while you're shopping, fall in love AFTER you buy it. You also
sound mature enough to handle the ponies, so I won't denigrate your choice of first rides. Just
watch the slow-speed stuff, that's where the bike is least stable/most top-heavy.If you don't
exceed your reactions at the top-end speeds, you're most likely to "oops!" it in your drive-way at a walking pace.

Good luck, let us know which way you choose, Ern.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yea it seems unanimous to go with the grafitti. I'll still be checking both out this weekend to get a look over both and compare.

I just wasn't sure until now if $500 was a big differance for a bike. But it seems it's not. So I'll be leaning towards the grafitti but I'll wait till personal/dealer inspection to be certain.

Also exactly how limited/wanted is the grafitti edition. I don't see too many of these around are they really that wanted to keep or good finds or are they just a oh cool not too out of the blue just not so common kinda bikes.

I'm just wondering to know if I have something I should really take amazing care of or if I fall over in a parking lot just be able to dust it off and go on with my life.

Because I did look up the farrings for a grafitti edition to put on the other bike to see if it was cheaper that way but the OEM farrings were like $1500. And it seems other looking for replacement parts for their grafitties are having a hard time to find replacement parts for theirs.

well problem one is that you were looking at oem fairings, any oem fairing set is gonna run you at least $1000 so its not just the graffitis. You can buy some china made graffiti replacement fairings for like $500 for a set just like any of the other ones, dont worry about that. I have no idea how many were made but i dont think its like the erion 929s or something like that, theyre just cool, different scheme and look, and they come all blacked out which is pretty sweet. You should take amazing care of it no matter what haha id be worried if my bike fell over no matter what i had anyway. You can replace the parts on it with anything for an 07-08 and maybe some other years depending on what it is but like i said since they come all blacked out if you replace an engine cover or something thats black thats normally silver on other models youll either have to deal with it or get it powder coated for like $40 or whatever. So i wouldnt be hung up on all that stuff, its definitely the better looking of the two and is certainly gonna be different from the majority of other 600rr's you run into on your travels, so thats the big appeal.

what I meant was if I drop it will I yell at my self. Or if I dropped it the whole bike comunity will yell at me screaming how could you drop that bike.

And as for that cool factor its a + but I really want a reliable steady bike more than the cooler one. Its a CBR 600 I think thats cool enough for me
