I've had people ask to to plug and patch tires. I'll do it but don't feel very confident to have it done on my bike. Never had anyone come back and complain but I used to always recommend a new tire.

 

My opinion (and many other long time rider's)...as long as it's an umbrella patch, it will be good...just don't use those gummy worm patches like they use on cars.

Here's a picture and they're made specifically for patching Z rated tires:

 

a new tire- less than $200..... a new body part- i think it would cost more???? I'd be safe. Some things you just don't skimp on.

 

That's because they're all dead...they can't complain...I don't know how I've been so lucky and dodged the Grim Reaper for so long myself.

 

yeah thanks guys, all of yah are all right! The tire should be here by the end of this week, and then I have to put it on my dads truck and take it to the dealership and get it put on. Do yah know how much they will charge me to put the tire back on?

 

My conscience is a real S.O.B. I feel that way alot. If something I did caused someone to get hurt or killed I don't know what I would do!!! My O.C.D about the work I've done on other people bikes/cars can cause me to lose sleep. Not that I don't know what I'm doing. It's just that I can't help feel that I'm always double and triple checking my work. It definitly adds alot of time to my jobs because I'll stop to check my own work. It sucks.

i work on hellicopters, i know all about TQ wrench lingo, and tripple checking work lol. it is time consuming though.

 

Simple answer!!! BUY A NEW TIRE!! dont risk it

 

Just out of curiosity, how many of you "just buy a new one" supporters have gone down or know someone that has gone down because of a patched tire? I'm not talking a story you read on the Internet or a blow out because of something else...a real incident from a patched tire...any one?
