RE: BURNED OUT MY cbr's ECU CPU??
ORIGINAL: jacobray69 the bike has a power commander 3 in it the power commanders are custom installed. it may not have been fused properly (or at all). plug your injectors back in direct and take a shot at starting it. then again, why would it continue to run after the start... hmm.... the other possibility is that the bike has flooded and the cylinders need to dry out. you do this while holding the throttle at 100% open while cranking at the same time. the bike WILL NOT START with the throttle at 100% Open. this will dry the cylinders out. crank for a long while. maybe a full battery. maybe use an automotive battery to get more time going. charge it back up, and with the throttle at 0%, attempt a standard start. this has worked on a few bikes in the past. |
RE: BURNED OUT MY cbr's ECU CPU??
i went and bought some starter fluid to spray a tad in the air intake. will this help kick the motor?
i did forgot to menchon the gas in the bike is not too new. its high octane (premium) but its been sitting in the tank for id say anout 2 1/2 months. my friend added fuel stablizer to it but said its useless unless you run it through for 5 mins. these are minor issues but they could be a reason why the bike isnt starting. yes the ECU system seems to be working perfect. its just a puzzle as to why the motor isnt actually starting while its turning over. thats why i got on this whole computer burn out idea.. |
RE: BURNED OUT MY cbr's ECU CPU??
i will try this what you told me and see if this works. as i speak i have the bike battery fully charged and a new honda vehicle battery on a trickle charger so i can start it next time off that and use the bike battery as the source for driving when i do get it to start.
i do need to say however that i never opened up the throttle fully or even most of the way. just a tad during start attempts. ill get back to you in a few.. |
RE: BURNED OUT MY cbr's ECU CPU??
NONONONONONONO
DO NOT USE A STARTING FLUID UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE DOING. I'm sure the gas is fine, it doesn't go bad after 2 months... not even 6 months. I have the same exact gas i put in the tank after my last ride from last year. no stabilizer and it starts up like it was new... and it's low test fuel. just try the starting, if it doesn't work, you're free to detonate your airbox as you see fit. |

RE: BURNED OUT MY cbr's ECU CPU??
you guys are awesome man!
im currently about to start it up. |
RE: BURNED OUT MY cbr's ECU CPU??
tried to start it with no throttle but no action from the motor actually burning yet.
this is strange man. everythign is working. all fuses are good. the ignition switch, dash lights, starter, and injectors all make sounds and seem to be working. i can even smell exhaust from the start attempts but the engine just wont budge. should i keep doing diagnostics? or spend about 80 bux an hours at RPM motorsprots on tuesday to run diagnostics on my bike? |
RE: BURNED OUT MY cbr's ECU CPU??
oh and just so you know all the switches are in the proper place. the bike is on "run" and the kick stand is up and its in nuetral.
im thinking maybe its the spark plugs??? you are way more educated than me on this. i am willing to do anything that might work. my bike is awesome. thers even this girl that wants to take pictures on it in a bikini man! and its not even running!! i cant have that [:@] |
RE: BURNED OUT MY cbr's ECU CPU??
Hey Knight, i was just about to ask that question myself.....any chance he fouled the plugs up a tad after that quick start/ride and shutdown, and has just fouled em up even more with the repeated start attempts?

RE: BURNED OUT MY cbr's ECU CPU??
You can foul them by means of flooding, but what I have done in the past is dry them off with compressed air and reinstall them to make it run. That is one thing that can be done, but you still need to do what was suggested earlier and disconnect the PC from the injectors and hook them back up the stock way. For all you know, the voltage spike may have affected the PC causing it to dump fuel, or even starve it. It would be nice to know if you even have spark and injector pulse because that would hint that your computer may be ok. If you don't know how to do this stuff, you may have to pay the diagnostics fee. Also, I bet they will disconnect your pc when they check it out too.
