Default Buddy Wrecked...

Haha it's really not funny but I have a hard time not laughing when I talk/think about it, but my buddy endo'd his stock 2006 600rr earlier today in a parking lot.. He's perfectly ok. The body on his bike is a little messed up but it won't start. I'm new to this forum (new to this type of bike also. I tried searching for his problem but I couldn't find anything... Hopefully this isn't a question that's been answered a million times). I just thought I'd ask if there is any type of safety feature that kills the bike when something like this happens... Or if there's a common thing that prevents the bikes from starting when this type of thing happens... Haha if there is such thing I'd much rather know about it before we tear the thing apart! Thanks for your time and info...

Haha yeah... His rear end came over his front end... He was going pretty slow and jumped off before the bike came down... So the bike was upside down for a second and then on its side for a couple seconds... It would crank over but not start... And after just a couple times trying the battery went dead... Is this the right place to put a thread like this or should it be in the general tech area?

sounds like you might have a faulty switch attached to the handlebar. I know on my 07, I have a problem with the kill switch malfunctioning. Sometimes you use it, and sometimes it gets stuck in the off position. Problem with that is it kills the signal to the fuel pump; which cant prime itself with fuel. Then, all the engine does is waste time and battery power sending a signal to the starter which fails to start. Anyone know where to get a new switch?

you are not going to find that switch anywhere. I would say your best and only bet is going to a local motorcycle shop, and they can pull up the schematics online and order you the right part.

Well I know I just was looking through my manual for something the other day and saw that if the bike gets tipped over you have to flip the kill switch off and then back on. Just something to check before you go ordering parts or paying to get it checked out.

this may sound retarded, but did you turn off the bike, take the key out, and try again> They have a kill switch when you tip over that will not let the bike start if it tips. Obvious, I know, but you didnt say that in your post....

Sorry I wasn't too specific in my posts... Thanks for you speedy replies! We did do all the key off and kill switch stuff after the accident happened... It turned out to be the bank angle sensor... It got cracked when the front end hit... We bypassed it and the bike started right up... Now we're just lookin for some parts.. I placed an ad in the classified section under 2006 Honda CBR 600rr parts . We're looking for the upper cowl, bank angle sensor, left mirror, the left holder main step, and footpeg, and rear seat. We got a picture up of the stuff incase we named any of the stuff wrong... Thanks again!
