Bolts gone. But where?
I just bought my first street bike a 2004 CBR 600 RR. Iwas taking the seat bolts out to get to where I thought the air filter was but wasn't and the bolts fell down past the battery into a hollow area under the tank. I don't care about having to buy new bolts but I'm wondering if the ones that fell are going to hurt anything in the engine or something else. What do you think? And where the hell did they go?
I'm not sure where you dropped the bolts, I didn't understand by your description. The bolts for the seat are too far back to drop into anything important, as far as I know. Here's a link to your shop manual http://www.stephygee.com/ I hope this helps some.
My first suggestion is to go to sears or any tool store and buy a bolt/tool retriever. A tool retriever is what I call the flexible rod thingy that has four little steel fingers at one end and a button on the other end. When you press on the button the fingers spread out and when you release the button the fingers grab the bolt. More then likely you should be able to grab the bolt this way if you can see it. Even if you can’t see it you might be able to feel around for it and grab it with this tool. They also make similar tools that have a magnet on one end. The problem with this tool is that some of the fasteners used on our bikes are not made of ferrous metals.
If the bolt grabber method doesn’t work use the shop manual and remove the bolts. It's the only right thing to do.

your seat bolts dropped under your battery... where your catch can thing is... you can ride around for years and theyll still be ther.e.. my roomates dropped 3 bolts down there, i was pissed, easy to get em out...
just dig lol.... or i cant remember but where your rear shock is, it usually lands there if it goes all the way through.
hope that helps, you CAN get them out... just dig a bit lol...

I dropped one of my tank cover bolts and the beeyatch went into another dimension. I have tons of extras laying around so I just used one of those. Still makes ya wonder when ya never find 'em. I bet the missing bolts are in the missing socks that the dryer eats
If its the same as mine theres also a hollow under the fuel tank were the bolt can fall, it rests on top of the engine until it`ll rattle out or you go get it. lol, think most of us have dropped at least one.
