Best way to disable headlights?
The machine in question is a 2007 CBR 600RR.
I have a track day tomorrow, and one of the recommendations is to disable the headlights.
I have pulled the fuse for the lights, 20A. The good news, the headlights are disabled. The bad news, the bike won't start.
Putting the fuse back in, the machine fires up just fine.
I have tried pulling the headlight relay. The lights still come on, but the brights won't enable. Putting the relay back resolves the problem.
What is the best way to disable the front lights? Should I just tape over them and not worry about it?
The license plate assembly and reflectors came off like a champ.

Found two solutions.. one works:
1) Solution 1: disconnect the 20A fuse. Supposedly the bike will start if you have the starter button held down while the FI resets (either turn the kill off, then on, or turn the ignition key on while the starter button is held down). Neither worked.
2) Solution 2: disconnect the lights. Remove the light dust covers, unplug the connector from the light. Stuff the cable back in unconnected, put the dust cover back on. This one works like a champ. Just turn the handlebars so you can get your fat hand on those dust covers, twist the dust cover in the unlock direction, and it pops right off.
I will still tape the glass over.

It is already probably to late, but why not just take the bulb out. Both my lights went out last night, the bike still starts. And it still starts with the bulb out. Don't know if the fuse is blown or what. Mabye it is diff for a 07 I have a 05.
I did a trackday a couple weeks ago and searched this exact problem. I did what Willcap suggested, Solution #2. It takes 2 minutes.
You don't want your lights on with tape because some of the glue will bake onto the light and its a PITA to remove. I saw a lot of people with ducktape on their bikes with the lights still on. I couldn't imagine how bad that would be.
