Base Paint for Yellow RR

Base Paint for Yellow RR
I've made a fiberglass seat cowl and painted it but the colour ended to be a bit darker. The colour code is Y-163P (Yellow & Perl)but I guess the problem is the base coat. I've used a light gray primer before spraying the yellow and then the perl, so my question is:should Ispray a bright colour after primer and before sprayingyellow, maybe a white base? or silver? If anyone knows please help
Thanks!

RE: Base Paint for Yellow RR
You can't just go by the color code, because it doesn't turn out right (said the body shop who painted my chin fairing), dragon is right...you have to use a white base coat.
This is the email my Dad sent me when the shop he uses told him about the paint:
I would test it on something before you actually paint the piece and make sure it matches first.

Paint for your bike is a special mix by Glasarith who make paints for Mercedes & BMW. Super expensive, MIke says it is like gold. It is a 3 step process. White base followed by the yellow then clear. Mike painted with the yellow the paint supplier sent and it looks like my Corvette. Mike raised hell with them and they remixed more and sent it . In the can it looks like the panel you brought. It sort of has a greenish pearl tint. Mike is redoing the fairings. If it dries like the in can color it will be a good match. He isn't charging me for the paint screw up.
