so i got my hotbodiesracing.com tinted windscreen.. nice windscreen a bitch to put on. in the process of putting it on i got a lil to rough. i broke a peice of my plastic. just right above my mirror.. just a hairline crack but its a friggin crack!! agh. so i get over that and i finish putting it and the tank pad and gas door cover on and im wiping my bike down.. i get to the tail section and i wipe the bottoms..as im sitting there i wipe my rims down and notice theres something that looks like its lodged in my tire.. oh wait that something happens to be a friggin nail and the part that pisses me off the most is i havnt even had it more then 2 weeks. agh. so suggestions on a tire? Im guessing it cant be patched becuase it is on the curved side of the tire. Where do i go to get the tire fixed. If i take it to where i bought it i am afraid they are going to rape me. thanks!

well as far as tires go they cant repair bike tires so yes it will have to be replaced... you're best bet is to either look on the net for a good tire or haggle with the stealer and see if he will feel any compassion for you're situation. as far as brands... couldn't tell you I just put the same tire as whats on there. works for the way I ride.

You technically can patch/plug a bike tire but I highly suggest you dont't do it. The last thing you want is a blowout when you are 100+ in a full lean. I just put a Michelin Pilot Power on my bike and am loving it! If you're running the Dunlop D208's that usually come stock with these bikes I'd look at the Pilot Power or Diablo... I wasn't very impressed with the 208's at all.

Avoid patching unless you need to patch to get it to the shop. Blow outs are bad, you should avoid them at all costs so the best advice is to suck it up and replace the tire. Some shops will sell tire insurance on new and used bikes. You pay them $200 for the insurance and then $30 deductible each time you need to get a tire replaced for the life of the bike. Two tires and it's payed for itself.

where are you located? I have a dunlop rear that I don't need anymore... (it was on the bike when I bought it, guy had a similair story and the front had since worn down to the wear indicators but the rear is pretty new (~2000 street miles, no track). Anyway, let me know... I'm in michigan, round detroit.

I'm not going to be back at the parents house (where the bike and the tire are) until saturday night or sunday... so if you can wait that long without blowing the 100 bucks on a new tire I'll take some pics... I'd say it's got pretty decent tread left... the stock front lasted for 7500 miles and this rear only has about 2-3k on it sooo maybe 50%+?
