600 OR 1000
OK...so I own the '05 600RR and love it....but...........want more torque............do I (A) Mod the crap out of mine or (B) just go with the Litre Bike??? Gonna post in the 1000 area too...should be interesting
more important than the opinion is WHY? I know insurance will be less if mod...what do I need to do to get 1k performance out of my bike......oh yeah.............ONLY road ride. Could go RC51?!?! Looking for best all around bike that I can also take for long ides with my wife on the back.....5'11"...muscular 210 lbs if matters for specs
thanks in advance

gear it way cheaper 100.00 and you can make a big difference go up three in the back you can keep you're stock chain try that if you get bored go down one in the front

RE: 600 OR 1000
I've made 6 hours trips on my 600RR and was more comfortable than the cruisers. I lay down, they have to sit on their butts the whole time.
My wife did a couple of 3 to 4 hours rides with me without a complaint.
virtualbong, I think you made a typo... you go down in the front for more torque.

RE: 600 OR 1000
I'm a sportbike kinda guy...already went -1 in the front...going 14 in a week (just $25 and a 20 min mod)
just not sure about dropping 4k (full exhaust install, pc kit, titanium hardware, cams, dynoed) to get near litre bike performance...then again I could get my bike down to almost 330 lbs (that's so light), talk about being flickable!! Have any of you ridden the 1000RR..is our 600 more comfortable? I never have, and none around here...just a bunch of R1s....not going there!
Thanks guys

RE: 600 OR 1000
Come on guys!!! I posted in the 1k section and they are so all over me. I need a way to bring up the under 5k HP....I know pipe and pc kit brings huge gains down to 5k...but what about under that?!?!?!
Come on...are 600s truly just track bikes now?
I now understand the nature of the 600 is to wind out....someone said something way over my head about a long shaft with small head or something like that (come on now)...are they talking about cams? can I take them to a wider shaft with larger head and get more torque??? there has to be a way to make this happen.
thanks
please don't say gearing either....does nothing to chagne to nature of the bike (power in certain rpms)....just get there quicker

RE: 600 OR 1000
Well man, you gotta think of it this way. You're talking the same way honda civic owners talk. They talk about spending thousands to tweak a little 4 cylinder that will keep up with a v-8. They never take into consideration that the v-8 is also upgradable. So even if you do pimp out your 600 to run with a 1000, you're only running with the stock 1000s.....Do a poll on this forum and see how many 1000 owners are 100% stock.

RE: 600 OR 1000
I posted this on the other 1000 site:
Hi,
I own a 03 CBR 600RR (with static sag done some 15 months later) and a 05 CBR 1000RR (stock). My opinion is simply that the 1000 is the one to have.
Excluding the torque/power which is obvious, it beats the 600 in all manner of things - as a stock! You'd think it'd be awkward in some area(s) but it is not so.
You can still 'flick it'. Better fuel economy whether you pushed it or not (17/kpl? vs 18/kpl - only 12/kpl, when pushed). More manoeuvrable/fluid. Sensed the lower centre of gravity. More of the feet on the ground even though it is of the same height according to specs (cut/shape of seat). Only 'downside', if you can call it that, is it doesn't like slow/tight corners re use of brakes - as I try to avoid using brakes, for my own reasons. Engine braking is not as effective as a 600 in such situation/comparison as a 600 can be controlled better via the throttle. Can feel extra tyre on the road. Real downside? No real fuel gauge compared to the 600's.
Don't waste time and money doing a 600 up. Still no comparison as a bike re inherent torque/power.
Cheers.
Oh, thinks I had my first headshake - glad for the built in mechanism. Has the 600 or other brand got it? I'll copy and post this on the 600 site so others can read if they missed it?
