2009 600 Shootout
Wow...what are the thoughts on the rear wheel horsepower of the 2009 600 RR at 97.7 hp. God my 1999 R6 had more than that.

i cant tell theres any loss in power actually it feels more powerfull then my 06 600rr. on my 06 i would have to roll off then nail it to lift pop it up, i dont know if its cuz it only has 600 miles on it but it stood up giving it 3/4 throttle around 8000 with ease. i know the geometry on the bike is a lil differen but it feels way more powerfull than my 06.

Something I have been saying for years has just come to pass...We are in an era in motorcycling similar to muscle cars in the late 60s. The general public sees the performance level as too much, the insurance industry won't cover some bikes and now the manufacturers are starting to rein themselves in... It took the automotive industry years to recover from that "big brother knows best" view and return to high performance products. Say it isn't so.

doesnt Canada now have a law that if your caught excessively speeding you get like a $10k fine, and something about confiscating your vehicle. I only heard someone bitching about it a couple of weeks ago, so I dont know the details.

Racing Law
I think we have a winner. you must protect people from....themselves.

It results in an immediate 7 day license suspension (give the cop your licence) and your vehicle is impounded for 7 days as well. You get the towing charges and the impound fees. Further the 7 day suspension stays on your record and impacts your insurance regardless of whether you beat the ticket in court or not. In court the maximum fine is $10,000 plus a suspension of up to 12 months. The average when convicted is around $2,000 with a 6 month suspension.
Since its creation approximately a year ago the Ontario Provincial Police have laid almost $10,000 charges. The good news is that they are only getting about a 35% conviction rate in court. Approx 30% are thrown out and another 35% are reduced to speeding only. But you still have the tag on your insurance:draconian!

Ditto on what Bear600rr said. This law is fairly new, maybe a year or 2? and was basically put in place becuase the police were frustrated by the number of people speeding bike/cars alike! plus im guessing there were accidents as well? i live on the Quebec side, but def frequent the 401 hwy to visit my brother in Trenton. When im on the hwy im watching my speed big time! trouble is on a sport bike its extemely easy to break the speed limit, most cases you dont even realize!
100KM/hr limit, you can safely do 120, but break that and your caught!
