2008 CBR800RR??? Could be.
Hey guys,
Some of you already know this, but I'm an avid sketcher (anything with cars and bikes) and consider myself somewhat good at it. I also love to photoshop, (which is what this will be pretty soon). Anyway, since MotoGP has raised the limit to 800cc (so I've heard from others), why not make a CBR800RR? Seems right. A bike right between the 600 and 1000. Oh, what a great day in heaven that'll be.
Anyway, here is a quick sketch of what I think it should "sort of" look like:
I pretty much took a picture of my 600RR and freehanded it to make it as close to the original outline as possible, then I filled in the rest and altered it to make it look like this. I think it turned out nice.
Sorry about the quality, I broke my scanner, so I had to take a digital picture of it. Hope you like it. This is one of very many more to come.
(And yeah, I know the decals look a little wierd. Not a big fan of them, but I didn't want eraser burn on the paper either, so I just left them).

Yeah, it's a little mixed between the 600 and 1000RR's. Don't know which Ducati though. I just started sketching and went from there, I didn't look at any other bikes for inspiration, just sketched is all. If it looks like another bike, please let me know. I didn't mean for it to look like any other bike.

well to the 600 to the 1,000 - the casing would be more open like the 1000 i think. probbly have more of a point to the front-end. Then to the tank to the fender would probbably have the frame showing between it (which your decals show it as almost a complete connection, i see the line tho)
I like the ram-air on the tail, i wish they would incoporate that into the 600's..
but for sketching skills go, i give ya props - i wish i could sketch vehicles like that. Dont doubt your ability, all good artist look at something and then draw it (even if it's not a still-life, you picture it in your head and try to put it down as clearly as you can see it)..
PS: yeah i agree with the Honda's decals, they need to revamp them and figure out a new design (the tribal was a good start)
maybe one day they will make one =)

Nice sketch.
As for an 800cc, well, I'm not too sure. The only other Japanese manufacturer that is within that market is Suzuki, with the GSX-R 750. Mind you, it's Britians' best selling bike - useable power in a (similar to a) 600 chassis.
Honda has to see it in terms of profit margins. If the 800cc was far better than a Fireblade (i.e.: more useable on the road), then would this detract existing Fireblade owners to purchase one..? The 800cc would be cheaper, thus there would be a detriment to the profits currently made on the blade. You could argue that an 800cc bike would entice would-be 600cc (i.e.: F4i or RR) owners, and they would purchase that bike rather than a 600 - so the profit would be made there. But why would the need to move up to a Blade? Thus again, harming Blade profits.
I dunno. Just my rambling thoughts.
However, Fukui (MD of Honda) has said it would only produce an 800cc if they win the Moto GP twice. So, lets hope Nicky and Dani can get their act together.
