Okay, I'm a new rider...first bike, first time ever being on two wheels besides my Dino VFR!

Anyways, I was wondering if I can get some help from you veterans.

What are the best tires money can buy for my bike?

What are the best tires for lowest(best) price?

Do you need to get your tires maintained at all like you do with a automobile?

I have Pilot Power 2CT, and i know a lot of people who use same tires, they are pretty good but they wear faster than other types/brands, but its worth it, the cheapest I know is somewhere around $260 for the set shipped(but not 2CT), use the search button, I know that they are some people out there just bought new tires
about maintenance i dont know anything beside keep them away form brake fluid and in general most of lubricators

Well Said D. Michelin CT2s FTW. Check your tire pressure during your pre ride inspection...other then that you're good to go. Keep the rubber side down

 

The pilot powers CT2's are awesome tires but to the best of my knowledge there more of an aggresive tire, great for hard cornering. If your just starting out , i'd go with just the regular pilot powers. Amazing all around tire, I use them on my bike. Ibe tried other tires but keep coming back to the pilot powers. They will last you longer then the CT2's as well...

 

For street tires, The Bridgestones that come with the bike are not bad. (Just a small step below the new BT-016s that I've heard really good things about)

If you're going to take it to the track regularly, (and can afford frequent tire purchases) the Pilot Power 2CTs are great tires, they'll just wear pretty quick (as with any other super soft quasi race compound tire)

As far as maintenance ...NOTHING will destroy your tires faster than riding them underinflated. Check your pressure at least evry week, and check your tires for nails or other debris regularly.
Avoid getting lubricants (chain/ cable lube etc) on the tire, as it will make it slippery until you scrub off that crap from it. and NEVER put tire dressing (Armor All) on the tire.

 

i just got pirelli diablo rosso's and i like them a lot. before that i had dunlop qualifiers. definitely like the pirelli's better

being that you are new to sport riding, I have to assume you will not be riding the twisties very agressively or need dual compound tires.
The stock tires will more than likely be fine for you. If they need to replaced, I second the Pirelli Rosso's.

the only maintenace as stated was to make sure they have the correct pressure, before EVERY ride. It only takes 1 time to have a low pressure tire cause you to go down

 

ive had diablos, pilot powers, and soon to mount bridgestone bt021s....i had the most confidence with the powers, but they wear fast if you ride straight, which is why im trying the bt021s, hard middle, soft edges....

 

Being that I rode Dunlop Qualifier's on my 06 600RR, my 07 600RR and used them on the Kawasaki ZX-6R Track Bikes when attending the Superbike School at Laguna Seca..........I'm declaring that the Dunlop Qualifier is the best tire for the money (being you can pick up a set for roughly $220.....given you are looking on the right sites at the right times)

A lot of people seem to not like them, but I have no idea why. When I rode the Kawasaki bikes at the Laguna Seca school, I was amazed with the grip and responsiveness of the tires. To my amazement.....when I looked at what tires were on the bikes when I pulled back into the paddock........they were just regular, off-the-shelf Dunlop Qualifier's. I was absolutely floored.
