2007 600rr vibration , rough-idle , fluctuation rpms .
2007 600rr question .
So my bike has been running rough the past few weeks , its been :
- Sputtering idle speed
- Rough idle
- Fluctuating rpms
- Jumping hard at low gears under 7k
When I pulled the plug I found oil on the spark plug and it looked dirty at the bottom of the spark plug well . The bike isn't burning any fluids , the oil isn't milky and I'm not burning any smoke out my exhaust so I think the spark plug seals failed from age .
Any who she’s still running rough with a new air filter and spark plugs , had my mechanic use a stethoscope and check the cct , said it was fine .
Any ideas to help out a novice haha
Usually it's some sensor out of whack that causes this on EFI bikes. But easiest to test for vacuum-leaks like on carby-bikes
1. spray starting-fluid/ether at all intake connection-joints after air-box, might be loose hose-clamp or split rubber tube
2. measure MAP-sensor vacuum at idle and 3000rpms
3. measure MAP-sensor output-voltage at idle and 3000rpms
4. measure TPS output-voltage at closed, than gradually raise to WOT. Look for drop-outs. Verify end-points match factory specs
5. measure fuel-pressure in rail at idle and 3000rpms
6 wouldn't hurt to run through some PEA-based fuel-system cleaner:
Red Line SI-1
Techron Concentrate Plus
3M Max Strength Fuel System Cleaner #08814
Royal Purple Max Atomizer 18000
Gumout All-in-One (might be off list soon due to lowering amounts of PEA)

Yea ill have to do some research into basically all that since I'm pretty new to engines , I did run some K100 through it and have some techron currently in the tank but i don't think its the concentrate plus , is seafoam another option or should I order one off that list ?
I also have some engine restorer from restore and plan on seeing if some of that helps with compression etc
I'm pretty sure I have a tool to measure the vacuum and I have a meter for the map sensor but what do i measure the fuel rail with ?
Is there any possibility the fuel pump is gunked up ?
And what is the starting fluid for ?

Never Ever Seafoam!!! It has alcohol/ethanol in it, which is the crap that causes separation in gas and resultant water layer causes all sorts of corrosion issues. And it doesn't clean anywhere even close to as good as PEA.
Starting fluid will replace air being sucked into leak. Will cause change in idle speed and sound that will be "AHAH" moment.
Fuel-pump might be issue, but not at idle which requires very little fuel. Could be pressure-regulator built into fuel-pumo assembly. Can test pressure in rail with pressure gauge like for tyre air-pressure. Autozone has free loaner program:
