I just purchased a 2003 cbr 600rr and really like hte bike. it has less than 6K miles and is reallyy clean. I have noticed a coolant smell on the right side near teh radiatior and was wondering if anyone has had any trouble with coolant leaks or porblems with the radiators.

The coolant reservoir is right in the spot your smelling, check to make sure the lid's on and also make sure the nipple where the hose connects isn't cracked or broken...the '03/'04 bikes are notorious for breaking that nipple after being dumped. Coolant isn't too hard to track down, so pull the side and chin farings off and give her a good look over.

 

Mine smells like that after a hard ride, I looked for days and so did the mechanics but nothing it is just one of those things, I dosn't smell strong but it is enough to get my attention at a stop light.

 

Thanks guys for all of your help. I think it may have been a loose radiator clam. I will keep checking. though.
