haha, man my first bike was a 89 kawi, and that thing had real helmet locks.. you had to use your key and everything, what happened to that? and it had a hard plastic box with tool kit inside with an all-purpose wrench handle, an allen wrench insert, a screw driver insert, a nut insert, and a small wrench for little bolts. they werent the best but you could litterally take the bike apart and put it back together with that kit.

the bikes look better, but you loose the little cool things.

I guess I'm a lucky one then. I took out my took kit after reading this thread and found out I got the larger tool kit. Woot woot.

In the owners manual it says "An optional, larger tool kit may be available. Check with your Honda dealers parts department." I guess they've sent out the small kit on most of the bikes being delivered now adays. Its a lame way for Honda to save a few bucks.

Anyone have a picture of the "Optional, expanded tool kit" and/or a list of what it includes?

I'd like to start putting together my own...

I didn't think the allen wrench was that crappy. I still use it when I have to remove the fairings.

But I have found that the best thing to have on your bike (tools wise) is a metric allen-wrench set, and one of those all-in-one screwdrivers that you can swap out the ends on. That'll pretty much have you set to do any fixing on the road.

Here it is. From left to right, top to bottom it contains:

-the case
-a helmet locking strap ??
-a shim with "0.7" written on it. (it looks like its 0.7mm thick, I'm not sure what its for)
-8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm wrenches
-pliers
-alen key
-philips screw driver
-rear shock adjuster and extender
-two other wrenches (for the axels i assume), the smaller one is 19mm, the larger one isn't marked with a size
