Default '06 600RR Good Deal???...

I'm thinking about buying a '06 600RR (orange w/ black tribal). It has 2,500 miles, hotbodies undertail kit, flushmounts, frame sliders (not installed though), and he will throw in a Iconjacket....for $7200. This will be my first bike....Just wondering if maybe im getting a little over my head.

Um... Youre going to hear it from a lot of people, but ya, thats a lot of bike for a first bike, and a lot of money for something that will most likely end up damaged or dropped. If you are set on the RR, like most are when they ask, then I say get some insurance for it if you buy it. As far as price, i always say low ball them and let them counter offer, try and save some $$ for any unexpected expenses on the bike.

Well I do have quite a bit of experience with riding dirtbikes and 4-wheelers....so it's not like im going to be thrown to the wolves when I start riding. I signed up for the MSF course that they offer locally.

I do understand that riding is very dangerous and a risk that a lot of people are willing to take. I have a lot of respect for motorcyclists on the road as well as riding one if I do end up getting one. I will def. start out very easy and become comfortable with the bike.

As far as the price goes.......he is very firm on the $7200. He is also going to give me a $300 Icon jacket. The bike is flawless, and the hotbodies kit was $700 alone. So he nearly has 10K into this bike and he has only had it for 1 year. Ive looked around in the local classifieds and found a few '04 that were caomparably close in price to this '06. I also looked on ebay and they were selling for close to 7.5-8K.

Ive already called a few insurance companies andit looks as if im going to be paying about $540 a year for liability (ive got a few tickets). and comp & collision will cost me more than half the cost of the bike...so thats out of the question. I was also think about getting theft coverage, but thats another $400 a year.....

Sounds like you are buying the same bike as me. I got a friend of mine down to $6500 on an '06 RR same color. Flush mounts but no frame sliders or jacket. It doesn't sound that bad but I would try and get him down a little. You should look at the bike very closly... a good example of how to get the person down is look at the tires and if they look like they have a good amount of wear like half worn or something tell him to nock off $100 or so. Or any tiny scratches point out to him and make a big deal out of it. Remember the jacket is no good to you unless it fits. I dont mean fits okay, it needs to fit perfectly.

i doubt 06's were selling for 7.5-8 grand, exspecailly when i look at all the completed listings and check it every single day. You can probably get an 06 for 6 on there. Heck a brand new one OTD at my local shop is $7400

I like the ones who say the bike was never beat ontake a look under the muffler I have seen so many with balled up junks of rubber still there

if that's the case you can talk him down there as well

Got my 05' RR as my first bike. Best decision I've made. Just take it easy and learn throttle control because that bike is fierce. As far as the price goes...too high in my book. I paid $7500 OTD brand new. Wheel and deal.
