I have, but some people have said that they're the same, others say the it's "newer". Does this mean that the 06 has advantages over the 05, or does it just mean that it was made a year later and thus newer, yet it performs exactly the same because the parts are exactly the same....

I currently have an 04 600RR that's been down twice... so I'm lookin to grab an 05/06 (I hear the handling and breaking are alot better).

 

The braking is a lot better due to the radial brakes. IMHO, the handling is, at best, only marginally better. The upside down forks aren't going to make that much of a difference. The only way you'll notice any handling differences is at the track.

Now are you implying that if you had an 05-06 model that you wouldn't have gone down??? If so, I think you're motivation for getting a new bike is ill-conceived. While I don't know the specifics of your accidents, I doubt it was anything with the differences between 03-04 and 05-06 that would've caused it.

 

nah, it wasn't the bike. First time was me... locked up when I saw a cop (a lot more complicated than that, but.. yeh). Second time was my best friend. I'm not saying I won't go down on the next one, but I do plan on doing track days come spring and my buddy's gunna take the current one off my hands. The biggest reason for getting another bike is so we can both go ride at the same time. I just figure if I'm gunna drop 5k+ on a bike, I should get the best one if the difference is only another $1k

 

Just so you know.....Honda does what they call revision years ....which is where they revise the current model for the next year....ya know...change body work and brakes ....stuff like that. They do this on nearly every model vehicle they sell. Anyway. 600RR '05, and '06 are the same bike. (Inside the revision years)
