I can only assume that our UK weather screws clocks up and the owners are replacing them with the cheaper to obtain kmh clocks and putting the mph speedo in them.

Speedo, tacho and temp gauge can be bought separately but the odometer is fixed to the circuit board.

Hmmm that would seem be the previous owner not being truthful then with the bike which if true is not nice

Ah looks like you have found your answer with your hard work and research - I expect going to a UK Honda dealer for clocks would cost a few hundred + pounds to rectify and as you say importing secondhand ones would be a considerable saving.

I'm really not sure as I've got receipts and paperwork dating back to when the bike was new and even that has the mileage listed in km,s. I'm now wondering if my / our bikes were imported from Europe to sell here new by the dealers with a slight discount. I know this sort of thing happens as my sister bought a new Mazda 2 from a dealer in England but the car was imported over from Ireland and as such had a slight difference in the spec but the dealer actually told her this.

Ah yes there were a lot of Parallel Import bikes coming in around that time as i brought my Yamaha SZR in 1998 and remember then a lot of dealers were around buying them in and specialist shops like Bat Motorcycles were popular, so that may be your answer..

That's OK then as long as you know what you have and how it's measured
I'd prefer to have 24,500 Km rather than the miles I know i have on my bike

I know my bike was sold from Carnell's dealership as have a receipt for it and can confirm is reading in miles as double checked on my journey to work today.

BTW I will PM you regarding your Fabbri screen at sometime

Just a thought - would the chassis number tell you where the bike was meant for or stickers on the bike somewhere else??

I bet loads of people are out checking now haha and I might look into the chassis number etc however I looked at my log book yesterday and noticed that it said new in GB by indipendant importer on the front so I guess I've just answered it not that I mind as its still full uk spec. Black and yellow that's no probs mate ask away

This one says on the logbook "declared new at first registration by sole import concessionnaire"

Thats what is put on the log book for any UK registered vehicle by the official importer.

Honda UK also declared the bike as a full UK spec bike when i gave them the frame/engine/carb and registration numbers.

I am happy enough that it is a genuine UK bike - just curious about the speedo change.

Odd thing is that all of the old MOT certificates are with the bike and they support the milage showing on the clocks ( at least for the last 9 years )
