So the reason why people have to buy FE's is because on the stock rear fairing, the light is permanently attatched to the rear fairing, and you have to replace your whole rear fairing with a Fender Eliminator? And if the light does come out and it is NOT permanently stuck to the rear fairing, if you install a LED light there will be some kind of GAP? I just didn't understand why people were buying FE's when they were doing the Light mods?

You talking about the tag light? There are LED tag lights that are imbedded in the bolts that secure the tag -- maybe $5 for two. I think the main reason peeps pay big $$ for a fender eliminator is that it's easier than chopping it on your own. When I chopped mine I prolly had 5 different ideas on what I wanted it to look like ... and it didn't end up looking like any of them.

Mine was already done when I bought it, But when I saw one that was stock, I could see why people would pay to do it.....they are fugly!

What are you talking about the light being permanently attached? If you are talking about the tail light it is not you can unbolt it........

Yesh! I was talking about the tail light. I thought the taillight was perma-stuck to the fairing. So a FE is basically that plastic piece that holds your lisence plate? And people pay big bucks just for someone else to do a professional plastic cutting job? Man am I in the wrong business! I was wondering about the FE's and LEDs because when people talk about them, either by saying they just put them in, or are thinking of what they want. They include both of these at the same time for some reason. I began to suspect that the tail light and the rear tail fairing, were conjoined together permanently and could not be seperated for just putting in a LED Tail light and keeping the FE like it is. Mine was cut already so thats why I ask if they could be removed from each other because I just need the LED tail light not the FE kits.

I just replaced my tail fairing (looks much better) and the light just has 2 bolts on the side and a clip up top.....I wanted an LED, but thought $100 was a little pricey...and I just got a real tail light in now so I am happy....Before my tail light was busted and had red tape....so this stock tail light looks like a mod to me
