Holy license plate!! That thing is bigger than our car plates here!!

I also like the carbon vinyl, looks like it was done very well.

You can get smaller license plates over here but they're technically illegal. Some guy's put them on anyway, but I'd rather not take the chance as some police are OK(ish) with them, (might just tell you to change it) but some aren't (on-the-spot fine).

Anyway, the carbon fibre was an eBay buy, "3d carbon fibre vinyl", took a couple of hours per part, a heat gun, and lots of swearing. SWMBO didn't quite understand the fascination. :icon_biggrin:

Well I wasn't going to show it off until I got it "done" but since its probably not going to change cosmetically until winter I thought I post up a few. I will try to get some with a real camera soon, but my 8mp camera phone does a pretty decent job.

And my favorite outta the couple I got today:

You might note that my tail still says "600F4" I had them change the decal when they made it (more like put a different decal on it.) I figured that despite making it look like an F4i, I'm not ashamed that its an F4, and I want people to know its actually an F4. With almost 40K miles on it!!

How did those plastics do for you? I have been eyeing them up. Also what can we do about our tanks since they don't come with a cover? You converted the whole front headlight section to a f4i as well?

I had very little issues with the plastics. The only issue I had was getting the headlight to bolt into the front fairing. All the holes lined up, but I think the fairing was warped slightly during shipping. I don't think it would have been an issue at all if it had been warmer when I put them on. I installed them when it was maybe 50*f out, so that plastic was kind of hard. Other than that, just taking my time, and starting all the bolts before I tightened them everything went smoothly.

Most people I've seen change the plastics, end up taking the tank off and painting it.
Others (hopefully including myself later this year), are wrapping in carbon fiber. There is a how-to from knife-maker and a supplement from CJardine in the how-to section.

And yes, I converted the whole front section, which included the headlights (a little wiring involved there), the f4i digital cluster (more wiring, but very straightfoward), and the f4i fairing stay. I had kind of an empty slate to work with, as it was a "street fighter" when I got it (read, cheap e-bay headlight, and no fairings). That made it easier to stomach getting all f4i stuff to put on.

Most of what I've done is outlined here https://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-600f4...i-brid-133257/

I figured i would post some final pics of the work on my f4(well, I'll have to cut up the ram air stuff for it to fit correctly on the bike so for now i just ride it like this!.)She's also got a full muzzy, jet kit, and k&n filter.

That tank is crying out to be sprayed Orange... but yeah, sounds like your going Carbon which'd look sweet as well. not usually a fan of the Repsol, but yours is sweet!

CJardine 06-09-2012 06:02 AM

Yay for carbon!!! well its not that I love CF and Everything needs to be CF Its more te reward of seeing your tank and knowing that it was you who laid that CF and did all the work for it. The sanding, well thats a right of passage to any body work. And I love the little note of F4 and I planned on doing the same when I was ordering my first set of fairings.
