Shooting flames !!!!!!!!!!!
Ok Imjust got this bike (2000 cbr600f4) bout 3 weeks ago it rides fine and fast as hell but Saturday my buddy said its shooting out flames !!!! Sounds cool right ?? But I know something must be wrong. I could be loseing horses in those flames, I would rather have my horse under my nuts and not sooting out of my ***
. So can someone help me correct this problem ?
For it being rich you would have to play with the carbs.. Do you know if it has every been jetted before? As for the exhaust most of them can be repacked. I would check with the previous owner if they have done anything with the carbs and how old the exhaust is.
So your saying if I get my carbs to run very rich and mess up my exhaust I can get my bike to shoot flames!? That is badass. Shooting flames mod.
Just messing, but I would really like to see a pic of this.

C'mon. Don't tell me riding a flaming horse does not sound completely bad ***.
But anyway, bottom line: You're ending up with fuel in your exhaust. The heat eventually causes it to combust, which is where the flames come from. You need to figure out WHY the fuel is getting that far. Here are some common reasons:
No spark on a cylinder. The fuel in that chamber never gets ignited, and is then spit out the exhaust valve. Check your plugs and wires.
No \ Low compression on a cylinder. The fuel doesn't ALL combust, and what's left gets spit out. Could be one of several seals.
Too much gas is entering the chambers in the first place. Could be from to "big" of a jetkit, like Yog said. Many peeps think dropping in a jetkit is all you have to do to make a bike awesome, when in fact it can rob you of HP.
Low airflow. Check your air filter first and foremost. People never clean those. Put in a K&N, regardless. If it already is, clean it with a recharger kit. Pull out your carbs, and blow compressed air through the lines. Don't use the "canned" air, it leaves a residue. Clean the carbs while they're out.
