Default Question about the low fuel light...

Hey I have a 2000 CBR F4 and I was trying to see if the low fuel light works. I tried to see if it would light up by just turing the key on but its not lighting up. Does anyone know if the bike actually has to be running for the light to come on? By the way I have the bike apart and theres no fuel in the tank so I don't really want to add fuel in and have to dump it out if I have to fix it. Thanks in advance!

no it doesnt have to be running.. as a matter of fact you can test it by disconnecting the two female spade connectors from teh left hand side rear of the tank (it connects to teh low fuel sensor) and jump the two together with a wire.. the light on the dash should go on.. .this is from the service manual..

what part of NY are you in?

note: the light don't turn on immediately when you jump the connectors, it light after ~20-30 sec.

Wow! Thanks Dmitriy! I have never seen my low fuel light because I usually fill up when there is about 1-1.5 gallons left... so I never knew if it worked.. I tried to jump it as the manual says and it did not light.. figured the bulb was bad but didnt care since I never run it that low...

I waited 30 seconds and it lit up.. so now I know it works... but probably will never see it again. lol
