what should i check next if a bump start wont work?

have gas.... i think
bike is backfiring
how do i check for spark.
not putting it against my tongue.

Put a plug out and keep it connected to the wire. Try starting the bike while the plug is out. You should see it spark. Do that for each plug one at a time. Just make sure the plug isnt touching anything when you start it. You could be safe and wear some leather or rubber gloves while doing this.

If its sparking make sure its getting gas by checking the fuel lines to the carbs.

thanx so much nauree. you've been a great help so far.
not saying the bike is working, but everything is making sense.
now i have to find out how to get to spark plugs. i already have both side fairings off. just did oil change and was planning on shinning up the fairing when bike decided to finally work.

Unscrew the front 2 screws of the gas tank, loosen the back screws of the gas tank. Lift the tank up and use a wrench or something to keep it proped up. You'll need to take off the airbox. Just pull off all the hoses that go into it and loosen the airducts from the box. Once the airbox is off you can get to the sparkplugs.

what is the necessity of a precise tool for the spark splugs.
i have a full nut set.
does it have to be a "spark plug socket" ?????
