Default Oil window?!?!?!?!?

Ok, I can't see any oil in the oil window thing on the right side, you know where the oil is supposed to be viewed, am I supposed to tilt the bike to see it? Its on the kickstand and I'm trying to see it but its not there, no oil is visible. Also my bike has started to make a ticking sound, and I'm worried about the pistons ceasing up. Which would totally destroy any hopes of finishing the season. The ticking sound is audible when the bike is in neutral. Also when I am in motion from 1st to 2nd. It kind of fades away after I get up in the gears, after 35 mph maybe, am I in serious danger of critical failure? Let me know because I'm scared ****less about this right now!@

I have the same tiny ticking sound, but bike runs strong... I know it is common on older Katana's but not sure about cbr's...about the oil yes it has to be standing straight up, so have someone sit on it and you can look.

Some bikes are intended to have their oil read when it's on the sidestand (like Buells), and others (like my Kawi) are to be up right (in which case, you need a second person there, in order to get a good view). Check your owner's manual to find out what's right for your bike.

If you're seeing NO oil when it's on the sidestand, however, even if it's intended to be read upright, it sounds like she's a bit low.

I still dont know what the sound is but it doesnt bother me.... I just now noticed it about 2 weeks ago when I changed my oil and used different oil...I went from mobil 1 10w40 full synthetic to Honda HP4 full synthetic. So Im not sure what it is.
