Default Oil Light

Hello, starting to have a bit of a problem here. Hope someone can help. My oil light is coming on and off. Usually comes on while braking, starting and goes away sometimes at higher rpms. IfI stand it up, it will come on. Took it in awhile back to the shop cause the light was flickering ever so often but they couldnt seem to make it do it again nor fix or find the problem. Took the bike back and everything was fine till recently. Just changed the oil and seems that the light comes on more then it use too. Its a 2000 F4 with 20k on it. Not sure what else to post so thank you

Well first up comes the obvious question. Are you POSITIVE that it is full of oil? How much did you put in after you changed the oil? As long as you can see oil in the sight glass when the bike is sitting straight up and down (with engine off)you should be full.

Also is the oil really dirty? If so then the filter could be full of dirt and restricting the flow. Cheapest thing to try would be to put a new filter on. Go with the OEM Honda one, that takes out a lot of variables, like it being a cheap generic filter and what not.

Yup, did all of that. Oil is totally full. Double checked that several times. New oil and filter are both on it, honda filter and synthetic oil.

Have you checked the oil pressure switch? If it happens when you stand it up, trace the wires back a little and see if it is grounding on the frame somewhere. If that is not it, you could drop the oil pan and check out the oil pump screen and the oil pump. If it is an oil pressure problem, I would not use the bike untill it is fixed, because it will thrash you berrings.
