Default new to the forum w/question

I just moved back to cali from tennessee. There is a dude at work who seems interested in selling me a 1999 honda cbr 600. It has about 32k on it.

He said the guy before him laid it down and that when he wheelied it he came down hard and the fairing broke off.

He started it up and it did strart right up. No hesitations and idled smoothly.

I NADA'd the bike and it said about 3k in good condition and about 2k in lesser condition. I figured I would offer 1800 and go from there, but no more than perhaps 2100. I have not checked the bike out all the way ie forks, rotors etc...

What do you guys think about my pricing strategy and if it could be worth looking into?

Are there any fairings left? It sounds like an okay deal ifthe motor is good. Check the forks are straight and neck bearings are good. Chain and sprocket in good shape? Post pics if you got any.

The fairings are there. I will take some pics tomorrow andpost them asap. To check the neck bearings do you just move the handle bars back and forthe then listen and feel for grinding?

My 2000 F4 has over 29K onthe clock and runs great. I would make sure nothing is bent, the folk seals are not leaking and everthing works. Post alot of pix and I'l let you know what I think.

I would be willing to bet that the forks are bent. Also check the swingarm and make sure it looks straight.

I'd offer 1k and go nothing higher than 1500.

Yeah my cbr is rashed up from my crashes, I'm going to part the bike out, I wouldn't sell a potentially DANGEROUS bike to someone, ESPECIALLY a CBR. It's just not right bro...

The official asking price is 2k. I checked all the weld points, sat on it and bounced around on it. It felt smooth. I checked the forks. It is all shiney. As far as it lining up the wheel pointed straight with the handle bars. The chain seemed to have about 1.5 to 2 inches of play.

I took some pics with my cell but the pics were crappy. I will use the digital camera at work and post soon. He said he used it to commute before the weather got cold. Until tomorrow...

yeah, I went to post some pics but things did not work out so well there. I looked for directions but I think things would work better if someone just told me how to do it.

I have pics of the sproket, tank, seat, exhaust, left side and some others. I just need to know how to post'em.

That nose is damaged badly. Just by seeing that one pic I can tell you I would never pay $2k for that bike.
