If I try to blip my throttle in the first minute or so after a cold start it dies out so I don't think you have anything to worry about. I always let me bike/cars/other toys warm up anyways before I go anywhere on them.

Sea-Foam- Don't pour it into oil. Just pour some in the tank, run it for a little while and call it quits - ideally you would probably want to take it for a spin because it would have to idle for a LONG time to get all of the non-treated fuel out of the bowls, and the treated fuel INTO the bowls, so if you can take it for a nice 15 or 20 minute drive on a warm day that would be ideal. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it TOO much, it isn't like you are storing it for years, you just won't be using it a TON in the next few months. My RX-7 routinely sits for a few months without being driven and I never even put stabilizer in it, just top it off with fresh premium when I take it out - hell from spring of 07 until fall of 08 Iput less than 7 miles on it, and just filled it up when I fired it up for the first time.

You've got TONS of motorcycle experience so get out and enjoy that thing.....When I hopped on mine and took off down the street for the first time it was the first time I had ever been on a motorcycle so don't worry, you'll be fine.

OH - and what the heck happened to your screen name. Did you change it from "Dennis in NH" to "Denns in NH" ???

Thanks for the info.

It's supposed to be "Dennis in NH". There's another one as "Denns in NH" I'd like deleted but not sure how to do that yet. I'll read up and see if I can email the moderators. This "Denns in NH" happened when I registered and made a typo. Sorry for the confusion.

Dennis

Just put the seafoam in the tank, if its going to set though put some stable in there aswell. stable will not harm it and is a must if its going to set some. The seafoam isnt to stablize the fuel but to clean the system out. Its great at that though. Also i add seafoam to the oil in somethings but I dont think it would be a good idea in our bikes as it may harm the wet clutch lie converving additives do in some oils.

So I'll have less obvious questions soon as I just ordered an owners manual from the local Honda dealer for $16.00 not too bad.

I noticed that I don't have the toolkit. I think all I need is a spanner wrench and spark plug tool. I can order that too but I'll do that when it's time.

Don't waste your money on the "special" spark plug wrench. I have NO idea why everyone seems to think that changing plugs on this thing is a huge endavour. Go to Advance, or Pep Boysand get a spark plug socket (it will have the rubber insert in it), and then just make sure to use extensions for the right clearance. Changing the plugs is a piece of cake, I can't fathom why it is viewed as such a task. It's a 30 minute job....

Default fuel switch

When you turn the key on make sure that the red on/off button on the right handle bar is in the "RUN" position - that will prime the fuel pump. The choke is on the left side. I start it on full choke, and then just ease it off. Mine takes a few times when it is cold, and I usually fire it a couple times and get it going right with a small amount of throttle, and full choke. Once it is alittle warmer out I don't have any problems. Just start on FULL choke, run for a minute or so and then turn it off.The fuel indicator is just a "reserve" light. I would be careful trusting that thing too much because there are lots of them out there that don't work.
Sea-Foam is a great additive as well as it acts as a cleaner as well as a stabilizer. Use premium, and be careful - you'll love it.
i removed my fuel tank and installed it back but I'm not sure if i turn the fuel switch on or off. anyone know what is the On position of the fuel switch? because my bike just died after running a few meters after i installed the gas tank back. and i repositioned the switch and still not starting.
