I'm idling at 3100k how do i make this stop?
I dropped my bike about a week ago and everything was fine and it ran normal till today it began to idle at 3k rpm, someone told me to adjust the idle screw but i dont know where that is. Any suggestions or help on where to find the screw or how lse to fix this.
The idle screw is a black "****" on the right side (underneath the frame). Make that adjustment first to see if that corrected the problem. If you dropped it hard on the right side, you might wantto check the throttle making sure it's not sticking or other problems with it.
yeah. croz is right. the check 1st to see that your choke isnt all the way open (stuck or otherwise)... follow the cable and checkin where it mounts if nec.... then check to see if your screw isnt too high.
that should do it
that should do it
can someone be specific or take a picture where the idle **** might be? I'm new to the bike - thanks.
Second question - This is my first bike. I came from a long history of cars - street and race. My idle seems very low and its incredible easy to choke it off at a dead stop. On my roommates Katana, he can just let out the clutch slow and take off. I'd like to do this as well, because I'm not the greatest at only increasing the revs just a little bit. However, if I let out my clutch slowit just dies. I was thinking a 300-500 increase would help me in my noobie trials. I've done this with some of my cars that had light flywheels and it helped smooth things out alot. Any thoughts on this would be great..

not what i would do but if you want, just keep your idle speed higher and let the clutch out. for california, the rpm at (warm) idle should be 1400 rpm. It will die on you if you just open the clutch without givin it gas though. the **** is on the right side, almoast under the seat near the tank. its a black **** with a cable. just look at that area and you cant miss it. i would recommend against the setting your thinking of... the bike might take off on you by mistake if you have it in gear when you think your in neutral. just a thought.
I know on my bike 06 cbr600 f4i the **** is on the left side in the opening of the fairing directly under the tank. Its a black **** with a white bable... No pics seeing as my bike it at home and I'm at work....
