As for mounting your plate temporarily til you decide on a more permanent solution, I recommend doing the following... Just below your key lock, drill holes on each side, mount plate w/ screws-washers-bolts. If you still have a bit of plastic where the shovel used to bend outward, just cut/file that off b/f you mount the plate so that its flat. There ya go.

Well, got my license plate up just got a small aluminum plate about the size of my license and added a small angle to it and just bolted it up into the small storage box under the seat! nice and stable didnt pay and didnt pay a thing out of my pocket! lol.. now all i need to get is a light to iluminate the plate and ill be ready to ride by the time i get my Motor cycles license!
Oh, clean up the rear end alittle cuase it seems like the original owner got alittle crazy with a hack saw....

Glad you've got your plate on there. Just a note though... Many LEOs like to give riders grief if their plate isn't completely visible. Just be aware of that.
Also, do you have enough clearance there btwn the rear tire & the plate? You need to make sure you do or your rear tire may take your plate off in a hurry the first time you get a substantial amount of travel on the rear suspension. Just tryin' to help ya keep your plate. ;-)

As for plate lights, I recommend this one...

Its easy to install...just peel off adhesive backing & stick where ya want it. (wire it up of course)
There's also trailer supply places, walmart, automotive stores, etc, that carry plate lights.
