somehow the white retaining piece on the cable to allow the seat to be taken off has popped off the black clip that holds it in place!!!! now i can't get the seat off. i undid as many bolts on the rear fairing as i could get to and i can see the keylock and the cable but i can't get to it with anything i have. anybody have any ideas???? its getting late since i got up at 6 and only had 4 hours of sleep last night, my brain is fried.

I take it yours is oem and not the under mounted keyhole or no?

 

ya thats my problem is that it IS an undermount. my license plate bolts go through the undertray plastic and i can't get it pulled down far enough.

my new idea is to get a piece of #3 rebar and make a 90 degree bend and grind it down like a flathead screwdriver so i can peek inside and catch the white retainer and turn the key and have someone pull the seat off.

i'll post up some pics. when i do get it open, any ideas on how to prevent this from happening again???
