Default How reliable is the F4?

I know that it depends on how well you've taken care of it and kept up with the maintenance, but say you take care of your bike, how long could it last for? I've seen thirdgens f4i and it's amazing! Since the F4 is practically the same bike, do you think it can last that long without any major problems? Could I trust the F4 to go on long trips? Just some thoughts I had, what do you F4 owners think?

Excellent. Ive had 2 of them and never had any big issues with them. Theres a guy on here who has a 2000 F4 and it has 200,000. Its a reliable bike. Id say more so than the F4i. Seems like they have fuel, starting problems alot ive noticed on here.

The F4 is a great bike.. the 3 'problematic' areas from what I have seen are teh regulator/rectifier, the CCTL, and the fuel pump... none of the three are huge issues.. the CCTL is a Honda CBR issue.. F4i has the same thing... the fuel pump is a hit or miss thing (I replaced mine about 2000 miles ago) and the R/R is because the OEM design is not as good as the one that Honda redesigned to replace it. Those that have replaced the R/R with the new design dont seem to be having any issues.

I love my F4...

Proper maintenance is key for any bike. Under normal circumstances & given proper maintenance, most motorcycles meet their demise from outside influences (collisions/crashes) rather than mechanical failure(s). The F4 is no different.

Of note however... Specifically to the F4... The stock rectifier was superseded by the newer finned model that Honda recognized was necessary. The original r/r was prone to overheating & failure. I did a write-up on the differences btwn the two on here sometime ago. Anyway, this is a direct factory plug-n-play replacement & corrects the issue.

I've used my F4 for just about every kind of riding you can do (sans stunting). I commute, ride twisties/canyons, track, & do trips w/ it.

Congrats! Have you posted pics yet? Look forward to seeing it.

RE: Maintenance - Yep, there's tons of info here on the forum to help you get just about anything done.
