Maintenance and a lack of damage is crucial.

If it's been laid down and wrecked a few times, 2000-2500 sounds fair. If it is an old stunt bike, I wouldn't pay more than 1200 for it...

If it's in mint shape and the owner has kept up on maintenance, I'd spring up to 3000ish...

Any more $$ and you could get a newer FI bike...

ok thanks Brveagle. I may be paying around the 3 mark, because im getting it from my cousin and he just got a new bike. So he is selling me his old one, which is in mint condition never been laid it has just been sitting for a couple of years. He told me it needs a carb clean up does that generally cost a lot?

I had to get a carb cleanup as well with mine since it was sitting for a year with the previous owner. I paid a local mobile mechanic to do that at $55/hour. took him like less than 2 hours to do that.

no more than $3500 depending on shape, mileage, and history. A shop will charge between $200 - $350ish to clean/sync/tune the carbs.

Okay cool guys so he asked me if 2000 was a fair price for it. ALso he is going to get the carb clean up and get it running again for me too with that price. I may ask him a lil lower, but we would have to see if i save enough in time. What you guys think? take it? thanks again for all your help.

$2k is an extremely fair price if its as you state...& especially if he's going to do the maintenance for you. I'd say "sold"! :-)
