I'm looking at a CBr 600 F4 and I was wanting to know if there are anymechanical or any kind of problems with this year and model. The good and bad things about the bike.

 

What year, how many miles, any mods? More detail...pic?

 

CCTs go bad. I have had no other probs. It is really easy to wheelie, which can go in ur list of good things

 

The bike is typical honda material - engine is smooth and lasts for a long time. This bike is very comfortable (by sportbike standards especially), and is very capable.

It ran as the F4 for 2 years (and a further 3 years as the F4i) as Honda's 600 class bike. My bike was ridden successfully competively until last spring when it was retired to road and track school duty. The gap between the current RR and F4 is pretty small and only thegood riders will be able to show the difference on the track.

It has good fuel milage ( ~45 mpg would be tops, 30 is expected, and I've got into thelow 20 mpgriding it REALLY REALLY hard - changing to taller sprockets and riding like a granny might be able to beat the 45mpg).

Make sure the engine sounds right - the body looks alright - and that she rides well. If it is in good shape it will just feel smooth. If it doesn't feel smooth then something isn't right.

 

Its a 1999 and has 3000+ miles on it stock.

 

That sounds pretty decent. It's barely broken in yet. 3k is NOTHING!!

CCT is common on most sportbikes of that vintage. Otherwise........solid Honda.
I've only rode one, but it was certainly a fun bike.

The stocker it is, the better off you are. SOunds like a good bike to me if the price is right.

 

i ride prettyhardand get up to the top end of the speedo a good amount of times a tank and i usually get 40-42 mpg, would definitely not consider how i ride to be granny lol, but i seem to get great mileage

 

I have a 2000 and she runs great. I run her hard on the weekends and If I am out for a ride. I have been to the track with her and it ran great, to bad the rider (me) sucked. I use it for a commuter bike also and she is quite comfartable. I rode 610km with a guy on a bandit 650 and he was more sore than I was.

 

I've got a 00 F4 with 15000 miles now. 3 teeth up in the back with 1 tooth down in the front in a 520 chain set up. I absolutely love the bike, just wish I had an F4I. Two brothers exhaust, and other little goodies. I get about 48 mpg, which seems high but it always seems to be within that area. Great bikes all in all. I know that the SuperBike magazine calls the "F" series CBR the "most user friendly 600 of all the 600 bikes" and considers it the best line of the "older, 600 bikes". After being on a 98 GSXR 600 for 2 years, I would never even compare the CBR to the GSXR. Honda all the way!!

 

smmi0501 - did you get something to fix the speedo error after such a big change in sprocket ratios? IF not your odometer readings are more than 14% high (-1,+2 is 14% high... you must be approaching 20% high) - the high odometer readings will give you a falsely good/high mpg.
