Hit the starter while the bike was running. All I heard was a click.

Is there a lockout so the gears don't crash? That would be super.

 

It's happened to me accidentally before. Just make a conscious effort not to.

 

You should be fine. When i first got my bike the starter button was sticking and being a complete nub at the time i didn't know. I rode around a whole day wondering what the hell that noise was, and why my headlights stopped working. I thought my bike was possesed because when i would put the kickstand up it would start on it's own !!!

LOL..... but yea, you should be ok.
