Hiss, CDI and ignition CBR 900 on CBR 600 f4?

Hey!

My CBR600 f4 1999 got stolen a few weeks ago. Last week it came back and of course was the ignition and the HISS broken, and the engine would not start/ignite. I guess I need to change the HISS and ignition.

First of all, do I need to change the CDI as well?

And the second question, would the CDI and HISS/ignition belonging to a CBR 900/956 work on my 600f? The new price on the parts was extreme, so that is why I may need to use from a 900/956.

Are you talking about a 99 900rr or an 03 954rr?

A 900rr might work, but a 954rr will not. You would need to compare harnesses to see if it's the same as yours.

Now the seller said he could get hold on the parts for a 600 f 1999.

Has anyone changed this parts. Is it plug and play?

Do you have the original key and CDI from the CBR600 F4 and is it just the antenna that sits around the key thats broken

Now i got a new cdi and ignition, but not the hiss in the mail. Would it work to change this or do i need the hiss?

Yeah, i have the original key and cdi. Its just the antenna yes. Thats because of the damn thief.

Think you only really needed the antenna that sits around the ignition key

ekj011 07-02-2018 07:15 AM

I also need to change the ignition.

So this is what is happened. I got new cdi, key and ignition in the mail. I thought i also would get the antenna, but the seller wont reply. I hope that he sendt me a cdi from an f3 or something that dont use the hiss antenna, so it would work without it with the new cdi. I am going to try to set this up today to see if it would work.

Just wondering about the Direct Ignition Coils as compared to the F3, and remember as long as the chip in the HISS key is in range of the HISS antenna another ignition will work (with the original ECU and loom)

I see. It seems like the HISS antenna is broken. It is copper treads around it and it seems to be a broken connection there. Even though there is connection, maby only 1/4 of the threads are broken.

To day I tried with the new ignition and new ecu and old Hiss with both old and new key. It would still not work.

I will try to get the seller to come clean if he scammed me, or just forgot so sendt it.

It is no way around the hiss?

The original key and Hiss ECU are a pair, you cant interchange them, but you can use a new ignition if the chip is taken out of your original key and attached to your new key, you can buy an antenna from ebay, that just transmits the password to the ECU and back to the antenna (all done in milli seconds), have a look on You Tube ,there are various video's explaining it

ekj011 07-04-2018 01:21 PM

Okay. So the HISS is not paired with the key, the ECU is?

Thats good to know. Then I can do as you suggest and buy a HISS that is "universal" and use the new ingition and ECU. Because they are a match.

CaBaRet 07-04-2018 01:37 PM

The Hiss system is within the ECU, the antenna reads the chip in the key and confirms with the ECU that the key in use is the one paired with the ECU, so its the original key (with chip inside) that the antenna wants to read, as long as the chip is as close to the antenna as can be ,the antenna will read it, but try this out first before you put money out on a new ECU and Programmed key, so its just the antenna needed and new ignition switch if thats destroyed

ekj011 07-04-2018 02:20 PM

I understand. The thing is that i bought a new ECU and hopefully a programmed key, but the seller forgot or left out the antenna. So I was not surprised when using the old antenna didnt work. That is why if I understand it correctly i only need a new antenna now. I could have made it cheaper for myself. Could have left out the new ECU. But if I buy a antenna it would work. If the motor is not fu**ed.

Do you know if I can buy the antenna from another Honda bike of the same age? If not I could buy from Ebay. I am norwegian so it would probably get customs on it. But its worth it.

anyways, thanks a lot for the help. I was thinking about selling it for parts, but thats a shame because the bike was really good before it got stolen. Maby I could get 5000 dollar for it in norway.

Have a look at #11, there is one there, but remember if you try to take out the chip from the key you could destroy the chip , and if you fix the chipped part of the key to the antenna anybody could steal your bike, or even steal the chip and your back where you started,This pdf will explain it better

ekj011 07-04-2018 02:47 PM

I saw it. And I have already made the order :)

I have a matched key and ECU so that would not be a problem.

Crossing my fingers that it would work!
