hello. start by saying im new to this site...this post is related to a 2000 cbr 600 f4 ...hopefully im doing this right. i need some help or expertise from anyone that is willing. i recently bought one of those digital dash boards from amazon for one of my cbrs. (dont need the comments . i know its cheap. i have my reasons)..lol
the manufacturer says its plug and play. it has one 6 prong plug. does anyone know where you plug this thing in at? or if it even can be plugged in. i have a feeling it has to be spliced. and im doubting it can display everything it claims to from that one plug. someone let me know. ive done my research...cant find a straight answer. connections and dash in attachments.
the factory connector is much more than 6 wires. I have attached a copy of the diagram from the service manual so you can re-pin the harness as you need. I am curious WHY you are replacing the cluster though. one of the things I am concerned about what you are doing is, the factory dash has a circuit that once you go about 18mph it keeps the fuel pump running constantly. anything below that and it will only pulse it. did the new cluster come with a wiring diagram? if not, does it specify what bike it was intended for? that might give a little more insight to the 6-pins.
There are NO plug-n-play dashes for any bike! Each manufacturer use sensors that are different, different types of speedo drives, custom connectors, etc.
What you are missing is other side of that connector with unterminated harness that needs to be connected to:
- power
- ground
- coil signal
- VSS - vehicle speed sensor, usually have to put magnet on front rotor and sensor on fork-tip
- left/right winkers
- coolant temp sensor
