Heated grips wiring into ignition
Hello all, I bought a 2006 CBR600F4i a few months back having not ridden a bike for about 25 years. The bike had a set of Ontour heated grips on it which worked fine until I realised they were draining the battery even when switched off. The switch itself then failed altogether so now I'm at a point where I could use some pointers by anyone who's had some relevant experience in this area.
At the moment, the easiest way to get the heated grips working again will be to just get another set of the Ontour ones and hook up the new switch. My concern then is that I'll need to either live with the potential battery drain or wire the switch into the ignition in some way. Is this sensible/straightforward/safe for a relative amateur like me to undertake without frying something expensive in the process? My sensible head says there may be issues around putting something with that level of drain in the right place.
Thanks in advance for any help!

If I were you dude, I would wire in a terminal ring, with a fuse between the grips and the battery, or dash switch. You'll never likely have another problem and if you do, you know it's either the switch or fuse.
I'm talking the fuse sockets that have a wire on each side. That's how I've done my LEDsit before my dash switch, and it's not a pita to pop ur seat and remove a fuse at the end of a riding day. They sell same ones everywhere, black fuse socket with cover, and about 4 inches of red wire on each side.
Cheers

please o please do it the right way:
Find the ignitionwire that feeds the fuses. Tap into that wire and connect it to another fuse to supply the heated grips.
Now if you want to be mr elegant, use the tapped and fused wire to enable a relay.
Let this relay switch powersupply of the heated grips to prevent excessive powerswitching with the ignitioncontacts.
