Default Gas gauge on my f4

I have a 2000 f4, anyone ever ventured into installing a gas gauge on theirs ?
If so, was it difficult ? Pricy ? And how could I do it to mine ?
Thanks for any help.

I would imagine it to be difficult since you would need some kind of float system to send the level to a gauge.. Of course anything can be done. Plus you have to mount the gauge somewhere... Good luck

I have a 99 CBR which I haven't actually ridden yet, but don't they have a gas light? I just reset the trip meter every time I fill up, and that works pretty well. I did see an external gas gauge DIY once, but it was on a chopper and it involved drilling holes in the side of your tank, some copper pipe and a bottle of Jack Daniels (not kidding) I don't think that's the look you want on a CBR.

well yes, it does have a gas light. But I dunno, I like customizing things a little bit. Just to make mine slightly more unique than the others. I figured it would be a bit difficult, but with no prior experience, I had to find out from others. But yea, the trip meter has already become my best friend in the whole week that I have owned it, ha. Thanks for all the help everyone. Much appreciated.

The F4 does have a low fuel light. In my experience, you have .5-.7 gal left at that point...which is quite a bit.

I agree that using the trip meter/odo is a good way to assess gas needs. For hwy, I routinely can get 170mi b/f refueling. YMMV of course. ;-)
