Footpeg question.
Do you guys have footpeg ground feelers on either of your footpegs? Mine used to have one on the left, but not on the right. I was just wondering if it was needed on the left, so the footpeg would hit the ground first, instead of the kickstand.
As for why.... my friend and I were out riding our favoriteish roads, and more specifically to this story, my favorite set of turns (A 15mph RH switchback, and a 10Mph LH switchback, both going uphill) About halfway through the 10mph turn, as my left peg was sliding its way along the asphalt, except this time, i felt the bike suddenly gain a bit more lean angle, (as if the tire broke loose, or i was simply leaned over too far or something) and then pop straight up. When we got a chance to stop later on, the frame by frame i got from my friend was as follows ---
He saw me enter the turn, after the apex, near the exit of the turn he saw lots and lots of sparks flying at a 40ish degree angle to the road. then he saw my bike pop back up, as me and the bike got all squirly. And i still am trying to figure out what went wrong.... if i got on it too early, or had a tad too much lean angle, or what..
Well now i USED to have a left peg feeler. Its gone, i noticed.... and the edge of my kickstand is a shiny new aluminum color, and ground down a bit. Which is what im guessing the sparks came from, seeing as i've never sparked before, and the bottom of my pegs are farily.... angled....
Which brings us full circle to my original question. Do you have ground feeler thingys on your pegs, and are they necessary? (Well the left one anyway... i know the right one isnt) And does the kickstand drag before the peg without it? Or was that just because i basically crashed, and the kickstand popped me back into a not-so-crashed situation
