Default F4i shock

Is the F4i shock (for any years) rebuildable?

My 1999 F4 shock is not, and I want to change the oil and get a softer spring (for my weight).

The F4i shock is a direct boltin. What do you mean a softer spring for your weight? How much do you weigh?

140 without gear. The shock feels better (plusher) with the compression turned all the way soft vs. all the way stiff, so that's another indicator the factory rear spring is too stiff.

I've been told by several tuners that they could rebuild my stock shock, but since it's not servicable it would cost quite a bit. Really I just want to change the oil and seal.

Set at the softest setting should be good for you then. Your weight is more the idea weight these bikes are designed around. Usually you dont have to respring em unless you weigh over 180 - 200lbs. Is yours leaking? Are you trying to set it up for comfort or performance? Performance you would want it harder rather than softer.

Nope, it's not leaking, but the ride will improve after changing the 10 year old oil.
