Default F4I front conversion questions

Well I smacked a deer with my bike few nights ago and ive been debatin on orderin a new stock fairing set or just doin an F4i conversion on the front considering im finding F4i fairing sets alot cheaper than F4 sets.

anyone have a write up or a list of what they used to do the swap??
Also pictures of a stock tail section and front F4i swap?

from what ive been researching id need:
fairing set
headlight
windscreen
fairing stay

IS there any modification needed for a stock dash?
can you still use the stock dash or do they make a conversion to use the F4I dash??
Is there a certain year F4I that you need to get the fairings from?

To get a look at what the finished product will look like, take a look at the 04-06 F4i.

Take a look at my photo album, the flat black bike is an F4 the red bike is the same F4 with a set of F4i fairings on it. The side and rear fairing are the same on both models the front is the only different size/ shape. The F4i fairing stay does not have a place to mount your gauges either.

The nose piece and side fairing mount together very tight too. I bought mine with the f4i fairing already on it and after a month or so put all the original plastics back on it. Also you would have to wire in a relay to get the headlights to work right.....if not then high beam will be on all the time.

I have no issues doing the wiring of it thats not a problem for me..

How much of a bolt on affair was it when you removed your F4i plastics from it?? why did you remove them and go back to F4?

Like i said every piece looked the same except for the nose, they were on the bike when i bought it. I went back b/c their was no where to mount the gauge cluster and he had it zip tied to the f4i stay. Looked like crap to me so i put the original nose back on and then the best of the sides.

As far as fit....they fit VERY tight between the side fairings and the nose piece and the nose piece to mirror mount holes.

It was such a stress on the plastic that the paint was cracking around these area's. Just my experience with it, wouldn't have swapped them back even if the gauges had a spot to mount anyway.

I don't understand what you mean about the bolt on affair....from my understanding the nose piece is the only difference in the fairing set. So it should be the same way you un-bolted you F4 fairings.

Try Delvic on ebay. They have those parts at a good price.

IDK about the delvic fairings, but delkevic has some good prices on their entire fairing sets...unpainted they run about $400 and painted sets run about $550. Also if you order the painted set you get free shipping.

I had seen on the forums awhile back that someone was putting a set of these on his bike. If i remember right they turned out to be a pretty good fit and quality. I'll see if i can find that old post and put up a link. He had picks and everything im thinking.

Here ya go found it : https://cbrforum.com/forum/showthrea...light=delkevic

So your fairing stay is toast? If you just smacked the front you only need the upper fairing/headlight and stay. As said the side plastics are the same on all models and the tail is not but yours shouldnt be damaged. If you are set on going f4i then you have to have the f4i front fairing and headlight and its corresponding stay. You could build brackets to mount the f4 guage but it wont mount directly. The f4i guage can be converted to work on an f4i but requires rewiring. You can find info on that by searching these forums.

Fairing stay is bent up a bit yes and both side plastics are toast as well..

I decided ill be purchasing new plastics from Delkevic this winter as they said they would color match my factory orange and design for $549 shipped.. As for the F4i swap i still will probably go that route with the front, id rather not with the rear mainly cuz the banana seat is more comfy lol.
I havent been able to find any information about the re-wiring of the F4i guage cluster into an F4 and ive been searching for the last week.> If you know anyplace I can find that it would b e appreciated!

The $549 is for a whole set, why not just order the 04-06' kit. That way you'll get a banana seat tail like the f4's and you wont have to worry about matching colors.

---Never-mind just looked at the delkevic site and they don't have 04-06' complete sets.
