I'm considering buying a used CBR 600, and I'd like to know more about how an F4 compares to an F4i.

I don't care about speed/power or any of that stuff, I'm more concerned about maintenance. It seems that carburetors can be more maintenance intensive than a fuel injected system. Is that right, or did Honda get it so refined that it's a no-brainer?

I just don't want to get a bike that is going to require maintenance that is over my head....and fixing/tweaking carburetors is likely just that!

I would probably lean towards an F4i, but with a service manual the carbs are pretty easy to clean, etc. I have an F4 and love it and have not had to maintenance the carbs. I did rejet the carbs so I have had them apart numerous times.

I read alot about adjusting and "sync"-ing the carbs...what's involved with that?

 

syncing is easy as pie homie all you have to do is take your tank off and plug in some vac lines and run your bike then some adjusting of some screws easy. as for fuel injection it is better but it has its down sides too i would much rather just go to the shop and buy some cheap jets any size i want and put them in for whatever application being stunt, street or racing as for injected you gotta spend a little to get a programmer and then a dyno run to really get it tweaked. im a wrench head so it comes easy for me but for some it might be bad. i am not sure if that answered your question but i tend to ramble one good thing, fi has better than carbs it dont take very long to warm up on a winter ride.
