ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN AT HIGH RPM'S
i have an 01, f4i with about 27k on it, this weekend i rode it from socal to vegas about a 3-4hr trip from where i live. the whole trip to and from there, becuz i have the bike sprocket -2/+2, i was turning between 9-12k. while on the last couple miles (luckily) the bike started dying out when i got off the freeway, like i was hitting da kill switch or something, but all the gauge lights and electronics stay on and if i cut the bike off and try to start it again it starts right up, but as soon as i start going again and get it up around 6-7k rpm's (in any gear) it will die out again. has anyone ever experienced or heard of something like this? any help to point me in the right direction of the problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

RE: ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN AT HIGH RPM'S
i am unsure on it due to it being an injected model but check. 1. battery and bat. terminals. 2, rectifier voltage output at all rpms (hook up a voltmeter to the bat. terminals and rev it... should read around 13-14 volts or so at all times. 3. check in front of your bike where the air ducts are, there should be 2 hoses pointing facing forward that feed your barrels (i dunno about the f4i, if they exist or not). make sure they are directly in the air! zip tie em if needed.
