Default droping a tooth on the fron sprocket???

I have the stock gearing on my 99 f4 16 in the front and 45 in the rear well i want to convert it to a 520 setup. a lot of the 520 kits come with a 15tooth front sprocket does that smaller sprocket give it a lot more low end or can you even tell a difference.. And is it even worth changing over to the 520 setup please tell me your opinions

Going -1 in the front is about equal t going up3-4 in the rear. You will notice a lil bit more low end power. Nice mod if that what ur going for.

I went to a Renthal set up, from the stock 525 to the 520 chain conversion and I went 1 down on the front and 3 up in the back. Acceleration is mean, and wheelies come like nothing. The only problem is my speedo is now under 10 mph, it shows 30 if im doing 20. Otherwise it really engages well right off the line and in traffic. I am very happy with the new set up, ive been running it for the last 1.5 months and it really does the trick.

Where did you get ur conversion? How much did it run you. I'm looking to do the same some time this summer. Ever look into a speedo fix?

I just got my conversion set from Sprocket Center. Go under street applications, choose F4, I got the RK GXW kit, -1 front (15), +2 rear (47) with AFAM sprockets (best sprockets ever IMO).
The speed sensor is in the transmission, so when you change sprockets the speed sensor doesn't know it. To estimate your speed multiply your speedo by 0.9. Top speed goes from 152 to 137 (10% of 152 is 15, 152-15 = 137), 60mph is at 5250 rpm in 6th (opposed to 4700 rpm with stock gearing). Those are just estimates by the way, it also has to do with how much tread is left on your tire, so a good idea would be to find one of those little speeding sensor things and drive past it a few times, see what speed it says compared to your speedo.

I want to change my gearing by the time my stock sprockets and chain wears out..

i dont care about crazy acceleration... just a little more grunt on the highway while in 6th is all i want... dont want to loose much top end either..

i was thinking of going with either -1 inthe front OR + 3 in the back... --- would this be the perfect solution for me?... instead of the -1 and +2 combo

and do they make it in 525 lenght?... or ar 520s just as strong and long lasting?

Honestly, I would go with -1+2, it is the perfect combo to me, 520 is just as strong, probably stronger than your stock 525, also you won't lose any top end and maybe even gain a little as the bike can power past that 6th gear weak point, my r6 still did 160 with that setup...

Id have to concur with the -1 +2 combo. I've been running it for the past 2 years and it works well for me. Little annoying on LONG freeway rides, but, i do them alot and its tolerable. The benefits far outweigh all the complaints.
